I’m back from our epic cross-country road trip! We flew to LA to help our son move, then drove his car back home to IL. But we couldn’t just drive it back home… we had to stop in Las Vegas, then Denver! I love road trips so much!
I manage to take fairly good care of myself when traveling, but just being away from home and out of my routine can be challenging. There are many things I do to stay healthy while traveling. The main ones are:
- Get plenty of sleep
- Stick to my usual eating habits and keep splurges to a minimum (this is difficult!)
- Shop for groceries so we have “the usual food” on hand
- Drink plenty of water
- Exercise whenever possible
Even though it can be tricky to fit in workouts when we’re traveling and visiting friends and off our schedule, I LOVE improvised workouts! In fact, I had the most epic interval workout at a park not far from my friend’s house. 2.3 miles of 1-minute intervals alternating sprints with body weight exercises. I jumped onto benches, pistol squatted on retaining walls, used a fence for inverted push-ups and a curb for push-ups and side planks. It was awesome and I was sore for days!
But now I’m home and ready to get back to my usual routine. And on that note, here’s this week’s workout!
For this week’s Quickie, you’ll need heavy weights, a towel, sliders (I’m using paper plates), and a mat.
